What is an induction heating pressure rice cooker?

After all of the advances in rice cooking technology, the most advanced method that's been developed recently is that of the induction heating system. Induction heating uses a method of cooking rice that is even more technologically advanced that fuzzy logic, able to heat rice in layers using magnetic pulses that warm food and easily adjust to changes in temperature.

Induction heating (IH) is currently the most advanced rice cooking system available. As of yet, no other type of advanced electronics has been able to match both its accuracy and its rice cooking ability. Yet even though IH has become the leading technology used to cook rice, there are always ways to improve this technology to make rice cooking even better.

One of those ways is the IH Pressure Rice Cooker – these rice cookers use the same IH power, but combine it with pressure cooking for faster, tastier rice. The benefits of adding pressure cooking to the IH technology is:

·        Pressure cooking technology helps evenly distribute heat, both speeding up the cooking process and ensuring that all surface area of the rice is the same temperature.

·        Pressure cooking has the ability to make the rice “dance” in the pan, which keeps the rice moving, thus improving the cooking process.

The main benefit is of course the much faster cooking time, IH pressure cookers have an incredibly quick cooking speed, because heat does not escape due to the vacuum effect inside of the pot. But each grain also cooks more evenly as well. The “dancing” that occurs inside of the pot makes it possible for the heat and water to completely surround each rice grain, allowing it to get the perfect amount of heat – and controlling the heat throughout the cooking process.

Induction heating pressure rice cookers are currently considered the top of the line rice cooker models. Even the most expensive rice cooker in the world – the Sanyo ECJ Series – is an IH pressure rice cooker, as there is no other, better technology available on the market today.

Price and Advancement

These types of rice cookers are not cheap – in fact, you’d be hard pressed to find a good one for under 400 dollars. They are only manufactured by the best brands in the industry, with Zojirushi and Sanyo (which has since been bought out by Panasonic) being the only two brands that create a large quantity of these types of rice cooking machines. Toshiba also has an IH pressure cooker of its own, but their brand is harder to locate and they do not produce many different models and are not widely available on the market.

Though IH pressure rice cookers have in some ways been around for a while, they still represent the last great technological advancement in rice cooking. Though some type of cooking system may overtake it within the next few years, chances are that the IH pressure system will continue to be the top name in rice cooking electronics for at least the next decade or more.
