Most Popular Rice Cooker Brands

Rice cookers come in all shapes and sizes. As these appliances become more technologically advanced, the number of manufacturers that are equipped to create them shrinks over time. After a while you are left with some of the best brands in the industry – those remaining companies that have been able to focus on rice cooker technology and hold their own in the competitive market.

Some of the most popular rice cooker brands are:

·        Zojirushi

Perhaps the most famous name in the rice cooker industry is Zojirushi. Zojirushi hails from Japan, and has been one of the leading manufacturers of technologically advanced appliances all over the world. They focus their efforts on innovation. Should a new type of technology arise that can benefit the rice cooking industry, chances are Zojirushi will be the place to discover it.

·        Panasonic (National)

Panasonic isn’t known for any of the more advanced rice cookers, but they are known to create very solid on/off varieties with extra features like a cool handles to bring the rice from room to room, as well as a steaming basket for steaming vegetables and meats. Panasonic’s rice cooker brand was once called “National” and was one of the leaders in the industry, but the brand name has since been faded out in favor of the more internationally recognized “Panasonic.”

·        VitaClay™

VitaClay brings a unique style to rice cooking. Designed for natural foods enthusiasts, VitaClay uses a clay based suspension heating to heat the water not just from the bottom (like most rice cookers) but from the sides as well. This ensures the water is warm all over and that the heating process is completely natural.

·        Aroma

Aroma brand rice cookers are the top selling brand in America. Part of that reason is their incredibly diverse and inexpensive line, with small, easy to use 4 cup personal sizes and large, more technologically advanced commercial sizes. Though not well known for their innovation, Aroma provides some of the best value for the price.

·        Oster

Oster rice cookers are similar to Aroma, except with slightly less variety. One thing that sets them apart, however, is that Oster takes as much pride in the design of their appliances as they do in the technology itself. The current models of Oster rice cookers are some of the sleekest in the industry, hands down.

·        Tiger

In Japan, the Tiger name carries a lot of weight. Tiger appliances are well known throughout the country, as one of the leaders in creating and supplying household products. Their rice cookers are of similar high quality, and many come with decorative designs as well.

·        Sunpentown

What Tiger and Zojirushi are in Japan, Sunpentown is in Taiwan. They create some of the best microcomputerized (fuzzy logic) rice cookers available, but have many less expensive varieties as well.
