Information on Panasonic Rice Cookers

Panasonic does a lot of things well. They have created top of the line televisions, cameras, phones – even computer parts. They are one of the largest technology companies in the world, and specialize in so many different products that it is hard to go anywhere and not find something that they created.

Because Panasonic has so many different products, it is easy to believe that they likely to do not “specialize” in anything. That is, when your resources go to the development of thousands of different products, it is easy to feel as though a fringe product – like a rice cooker – probably isn’t anything special.

Perhaps because it was based in Japan, or perhaps simply because Panasonic takes pride in its work, if you believed that Panasonic would not make some of the highest quality rice cookers, you would have been completely wrong.

National Brand

For decades Panasonic made – and continues to make – some of the most top of the line rice cookers in the entire industry. Sold under the name “National” for many years (later switched to Panasonic due to trademark issues), the Panasonic brand was known throughout Japan and the United States as the company that created some of the highest quality rice cookers available.

Though the name National discontinued its use in 2008, Panasonic has not slowed down its product line at all. They offer multiple types of rice cookers including:

·        Fuzzy Logic

·        On/Off

·        Induction Heating

They are also one of the better brands to find some of the industrial sized rice cookers – those that can handle as many as 40 cups of uncooked rice or more. Interestingly, though Panasonic has all of these different types of rice cookers, they do not specialize in any particular one. Other brands, like Zojirushi, make a name for themselves by offering some of the best Fuzzy Logic rice cookers available. Panasonic, by comparison, has multiple types of every type of rice cooker, but fewer models overall.

Popular Panasonic Rice Cooker Models

·        Panasonic SRG06FG 3-Cup Automatic Rice Cooker

·        Panasonic SR-G10G 450-Watt 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker and Steamer

·        Panasonic SR-G18FG 10-Cup Rice Cooker and Steamer

·        Panasonic SR-DE102 Fuzzy-Logic 5-Cup Electronic Rice Cooker

·        Panasonic SR-42HP 23-Cup Rice Cooker and steamer

The induction heating models of Panasonic are less well known, and often have a hefty price tag (bordering $300 each). Their automatic models are very competitively priced, and all of these products tend to be very sturdy and reliable. Many people use some of their early National brand rice cookers still today without any problems.

Overall Impressions of Panasonic/National Rice Cookers

Due to the broad range of Panasonic’s electronics offerings, its status in the rice cooker industry is likely never going to be as well known. But Panasonic has long made some of the most reliable, sleek, and easy to use rice cookers available. Should you find a Panasonic rice cooker that you like, it is a brand name that you can generally trust for quality.
