Review of Zojirushi Rice Cookers

One of the leading names in rice cooker technology is Zojirushi. Originating in Japan, Zojirushi is known for a variety of different appliances, including refrigerators, coffee makers and water boilers, but rice cookers are one of its flagship product lines and are one of the main reasons they have been able to create such a name for themselves in Japan and the rest of the world.

Zojirushi prides itself on innovation. Since the company was founded in 1918, Zojirushi has often released some of the most technologically advanced appliances available. Zojirushi has more Fuzzy Logic rice cookers than almost any other company, and was one of the first to release the technologically advanced system (albeit with a hefty price tag attached). Most rice enthusiasts swear by their Zojirushi system, and it is easily one of the most loved pieces of technology in both the east and west.

Zojirushi Types

Zojirushi specialized in some of the more hi-tech rice cookers, but they still offer several of the less expensive models as well, all of them known to be some of the best in the industry. Zojirushi has:

·        On/Off Rice Cookers

·        Fuzzy Logic Rice Cookers (Called Micom and Neuro Fuzzy)

·        Induction Heating (IH) Rice Cookers

·        IH Pressure Rice Cookers (considered the most advanced in the industry)

Zojirushi does not currently offer any microwave rice cookers.

Popular Zojirushi Models

Zojirushi is one of the most popular brands available, and is often coming out with new models that quickly overtake the old models in terms of popularity. However, some of the current popular models of Zojirushi rice cookers are:

Interesting Features of Zojirushi

Many of the Zojirushi models, especially within the Fuzzy Logic subsets, have special features for helping create all different types of rice including brown, jasmine, and GABA rice. Several of the Micom models also have cake/bread cooking buttons, allowing you to bake with their machines beyond simply cooking rice with it.

Average Price of Zojirushi Models

Because Zojirushi has almost every type of rice cooker you can think of available, the prices can vary considerably. Some of the IH Pressure Cooking models cost as much as $300, while most of the basic On/Off models hover around the $50-$60 mark. Because Zojirushi is known best for its Fuzzy Logic rice cookers, though, the average price of a Zojirushi model will be roughly 150 dollars.

Overall Impressions of Zojirushi

Zojirushi is known as one of the leaders in rice cooker technology for good reason. They are sturdy, extremely well built machines, designed by one of the leading experts in rice cooker technology. Rice cookers are Zojirushi’s flagship products, and you can tell by their quality that a lot of time and consideration goes into the building of each new model that is released.
